Custom versus Pre-fabricated
The products distributed through Ortho Innovations have been prescribed and developed through our clinical O&P facility of Prosthetic Laboratories in Rochester, Minnesota. Initially with the elbow brace and later the knee, all the patient fittings of these products were custom fabricated to individual patient measurement. We gained valuable fitting and fabrication experience and expanded distribution to other facilities in other states, as the surgeon’s presentations at national meetings created a greater demand. Through interpretation of large numbers of measurement data, we created standard sizing, and decided to offer the elbow and knee in custom or pre-fabricated versions.

Warranty
The frame of the Mackie Elbow or Knee Brace is covered by a one year limited warranty against defects in craftsmanship. (Under normal use)

Product Disclaimer: The Mackie Elbow Extension, Hyperflexion and Knee Extension Braces are designed to return the maximum range of motion possible to the injured joint. Many patients require this treatment in addition to previous surgery and other therapeutic measures.

Please be aware that the goal of this treatment is to accomplish a low stretching force over long periods of time. This will stretch soft tissues in a safe manner with lasting results. The patient must be sure to discuss the wearing schedule with the physician who prescribed the orthosis.

If the patient experiences PAIN, SWELLING, or NUMBNESS at any time during treatment with these braces, the patient is advised to contact the referring medical professional immediately.

Elbow

The Mackie Hinge Elbow Brace is available in three pre-fabricated sizes, left and right. Refer to our Elbow Brace Sizing Chart (2.0 Mb PDF) for more information on proper size selection. Knob placement is variable based on practitioner and patient preference. The knob is also removable to make it a more streamlined brace, or to ensure the setting is not bumped or altered.

If a custom made brace is preferred or required, as in the case of Pediatric Bracing, then the Mackie Hinge Elbow Brace can be made to order. It may take a little more time, and cost slightly more, but a custom brace is superior to all others in its fit, function, and appearance.
